IMPORTANT NOTE: This Stream 1 module requires you to also complete Core (Stream 1) to become an approved assessor.

This is a Stream 2 module and it’s designed for doctors that have already successfully completed the Stream 1 module and hold that accreditation. Stream 2 modules do not have any assessment requirements, they will help you improve your proficiency by updating your skills in applying the AMA4 Guides and/or other prescribed assessment methods.
Successful completion of the Stream 2 module will lead to awarding of one update to accreditation:

*Participants need to have their AMA4 Guides with them whilst completing the online module.
Module information
This module covers the criteria from Chapter 6 of the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, Fourth Edition (“the AMA Guides”) which are used to evaluate permanent impairment of the cardiovascular system, including the heart, aorta and peripheral vascular system.
The module includes:
- The approach to evaluating functions and classification of cardiac disease in a compensation framework.
- The differences between the usage of some terms in the context of the AMA Guides and their usage in current clinical medicine.
- The approach to disentangling multiple causes of functional classification when assessing impairment.
- Reference to another part of the AMA Guides to assess impairment associated with a permanent need for blood thinners.
- Apportionment of Impairment: The approach required to disentangle what impairment may or may not be related to a compensable event.
